35-Foot Wraparound Deck Build in Holland Michigan

This one was a fun layout to work through. The homeowner wanted something that could actually function - not just a small landing off the back door, but a real outdoor space that wraps around the home and connects to the yard in more than one spot. That's exactly what we built. A full 35-foot by 10-foot wraparound deck in Holland, Michigan, built with pressure-treated lumber from top to bottom.

The dual staircase design was a big part of what makes this deck work so well. One set of stairs drops down from the front section of the deck near the main entry, while a second full staircase at the rear gives access to the backyard. Both are wide, solid, and built with the same pressure-treated material as the rest of the structure. No shortcuts. When you're dealing with a deck at this elevation, the staircase isn't just a convenience - it's a safety feature that has to be done right.

Pressure-treated lumber is our go-to for builds like this. It holds up against Michigan weather, resists moisture and insects, and is genuinely built to last. The framing underneath is just as important as what you see on the surface, and we don't cut corners there either. Proper post spacing, solid footings, and clean framing throughout - that's what gives a deck its longevity.

What we ended up with is a deck that wraps the corner of the home, opens up the backyard view, and gives this family real square footage to use. Plenty of room for seating, grilling, and just being outside without feeling cramped. The wraparound layout also means you get sun at different times of day depending on where you station yourself - which is a genuinely underrated feature of this style.
