Under-Deck Storage Enclosure Built with Trex in Caledonia

Most elevated decks leave a ton of usable space just sitting there - exposed to the elements, collecting junk, and looking rough from the yard. This Caledonia homeowner had exactly that situation. The space under the deck had real potential, and we wanted to make it work without sacrificing the clean look of the overall build.

We wrapped the entire enclosure in Trex composite in Cinnamon Cove - a warm, rich brown that ties right into the deck above it. Running the boards vertically gives the whole thing a sharp, intentional look. It doesn't read as an afterthought. It looks like it was always supposed to be there.

For access, we built a custom sliding barn door out of pressure-treated lumber. It rolls open smooth on a heavy-duty wheel track and closes flush against the enclosure. No digging through a crawl space. No awkward hinged panels. Just clean, easy entry to a fully protected storage area that can handle Michigan winters without rotting, warping, or fading.

The composite material is the right call for a job like this. It won't absorb moisture, it doesn't need to be stained or sealed, and it's going to look exactly the same ten years from now as it does today. That matters when you're wrapping something that sits low to the ground and takes the brunt of every season.
